College Basketball Betting

In the scene of the college basketball there is a time when everyone goes just crazy about it and that time is around the corner, I’m talking about the College Madness in every March. This is the NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Championship and it is the most popular event in basketball just behind the NBA season.

This is a single elimination tournament and sometimes is also called the “Big Dance” among players and coaches, because is the culmination of their obsessive dream and at the end of the tournament lies the greatest dance of all, the Final Four.

The tournament has a women’s and a men’s division. An opening round is played between the sixty-fourth and sixty-fifth teams of the men’s tournament and after that the real tournament begins. In the women’s tournament, there is no “opening round.” because there is no sixty-fifth team.

After completing the first two days, the field of 64 teams is pared to 32 and in the next two days, the field is trimmed into what is popularly called “the Sweet16”. These final 16 teams take a four-day break before resuming play on the next Thursday. During the second week of the tournament, the field is trimmed again, but this time from 16 to four. These are the four teams that form the tournament’s Final Four.

Of course, betting on the March Madness has become a very popular pastime not just for students, basketball fans and most sports fans in general and there are many reasons for this; some of them could be the effusive loyalties or the chaotic format culminating in the Final Four which is the pinnacle of the tournament one of the most popular weekends in the sports calendar.

Usually the bracket for the contest is headed for the four division champions and the NCAA selection committee completes the other position in the bracket after following a seeding process that considers factors such as team rankings and win-loss records to finally end up with a total of 65 teams at the starting point of the contest with the two lowest seeded teams playing an opening round to determine who qualifies for the 64th position in the bracket.

All the pandemonium ends with four teams in the “Final Four”, which is the semifinal of the tournament and is played the Saturday. The final game of the event takes place the Monday after the Final Four.

The UCLA hold the record for the most titles with 11, and the University of Kentucky is second with 7. The reigning champions are Florida who won the tournament in 2007.
